SAME SEX MARRIAGE SURVEY
The issue of same-sex marriage is likely to be debated in Federal Parliament sometime in 2011. I have been canvassing the views of voters in Pearce about the issue and this survey allows me to know your views.
Recently four Australian states and territories, including NSW, have moved legislation to allow same-sex couples to register their relationships. A number of states, including NSW, have recently amended laws to allow same-sex couples to adopt children.
While there is no federal statute which provides for the registration of same-sex relationships, nonetheless the legislative changes referred to above result in same-sex relationships being recognised by federal law for the purposes of the many statutes amended.
This survey is important as community views on marriage and the legal status of same-sex relationships are rapidly changing.
Your views will be kept strictly confidential.
