Moylan praises recovery efforts following storm

Hon Judi Moylan MP has praised the efforts of those assisting in the recovery of York, Northam and Beverley following the freak storms of Saturday 29 January 2011.
Touring many of the devastated areas on Monday, Mrs Moylan acknowledged the Shire of York in facilitating her visit and the ongoing work of those entrusted in restoring normal life to the towns of the Avon.
“York Shire CEO Ray Hooper and Northam Shire President Steve Pollard showed me the devastated areas first-hand and my thoughts are with those families and businesses impacted,” Mrs Moylan said.
“I must acknowledge the tremendous work of groups such as FESA, specifically incident controller Paul Leiper, DCP, the local Police, York Health Services and Centrelink.
“These organisations were amongst the first on the scene and have been offering incredible support to the communities of York, Northam and Beverley.”
Mrs Moylan also gave special mention to the women of the CWA and the Salvation Army for providing food to those who needed it. She also said Western Power’s response had been exceptional, working quickly to restore power to the affected communities.
Mrs Moylan said she would continue to provide assistance and maintain contact with those agencies aiding the recovery.
