Judi Moylan Hosts Chinese Delegation for Trade Talks

Federal Member for Pearce, the Hon Judi Moylan MP hosted a delegation of Chinese officials at her office in Greenmount this week.
The representatives, from the city of Harbin, home of the Ice Festival, visited Pearce to talk trade. The members of the delegation were brought to Western Australia by Perth Consultant Ms Juyang Feng.
Ms Sandra Wallace, Chief Executive of the Swan Chamber of Commerce and the Hon Peter Foss, President of the North East Metropolitan Chamber attended the meeting and outlined for the Chinese Delegation the commerce and trade environment of the eastern metropolitan region.
Mrs. Wang Ying, Deputy Mayor of the City said that this was a preliminary visit to see if there was an opportunity for further trade talks with a view to bringing a full trade delegation visit to Perth from Harbin.
The Chinese city of Harbin is known as the Paris of the north and is a sophisticated city with a strong technological/industrial base, as well as agricultural production including rice, corn and soy beans.
The region is home to the internationally renowned Ice Festival and also has an annual Trade Fair and Music Festival which attracts visitors from around the world.
Ms Wallace added a personal touch to the meeting by explaining that the Midland Opera Centre and the Chamber of Commerce had sponsored two Chinese opera singers Zhang Jun and Liu Ze.
They were selected from 20,000 applicants and since returning to China Mr Jun has come back to Perth to do his Masters degree at the Edith Cowan University Music Conservatorium.
Mr Foss said that the eastern metropolitan region had strong industries which supported the mining sector and warmly welcomed the Delegation to the region.
China and Australia have a complimentary trading relationship which has benefited both countries
