Seasons Greetings

Christmas 2006 my three grandchildren, who were then 14, 11 and 8, made a wonderful video presentation for Christmas. The theme was “What Does The Christmas Season Mean To You?”

They went to various shopping areas including the Perth City Mall and interviewed people from all different cultures and backgrounds. It was beautifully executed and both funny and touching.

Kept under “wraps” until Christmas, the video was the highlight of the day with the theme stimulating thoughtful conversations around the lunch table.

The children had such a great time producing the video, they learned a lot about different cultures and religions.

Each Christmas I think about the children’s questions and my own response.

Now my beloved grand-parents, Priscilla and Sam, parents Phyllis and Alfred and oldest sister Shirley have passed away, I still think of the many happy family Christmases we enjoyed together.

In my early childhood at Bunbury, it meant spending time at the beach after Church and the family lunch.

Later, when we moved inland to Narrogin, the beach was replaced by happy times around the piano.

The Christmas Season has different meanings, traditions and special memories for everyone.

Whatever this season means to you, I extend my best wishes for a joyful, peaceful festive period and much happiness and fulfilment in the New Year.
